Skillnet is a specialist provider of Apprenticeships in the automotive sector. Operating nationally, each year we manage the training for more than 4000 people. We run the national Apprenticeship Programmes for Ford, McLaren, DAF Trucks as well as programmes for independent motor businesses.

Overall Job Purpose

To grow profitable delivery of the full range of Skillnet services and to act as ambassador for the business in relation to all issues and opportunities that arise in the region.

 Operational targets include:

  • The quality and volume of new starts
  • The numbers of learners in learning by age and discipline
  • Achievers and achievement rates
  • Achievement of Visit Cycle
  • Full Health and Safety compliance

 

Qualitative targets include:

  • Customer and learner satisfaction,
  • staff turnover rates,
  • “right first time” paperwork and processes,
  • quality of the learning experience for all learners in the region

Key tasks and accountabilities

Regional Skills Managers are responsible for:

Direct staff Management of 5-10 skills coaches (and therefore a base of approximately 300-600 learners which Regional Skills managers will be targeted to grow)

Indirect management of recruitment and quality staff

Service Delivery to all current and future customers in the region

Quality Management of service delivery (over time it is envisaged that this will include IQA of portfolios)

Learner attraction and learner recruitment in the region

Dealing with any customer issues in the region

Managing recruitment, retention and achievement to agreed targets with each Assessor

Manage delivery of customer contracts in line with service level agreement.

Recruiting, coaching and developing staff

Monitoring, managing and maintaining management information

Developing customer relationships and new income streams

Representing Skillnet as the leading provider in the sector and looking for ways to constantly add value
