Job Description

A leading well-established independent training provider, based in Hemel Hempstead – we are looking for an experienced Tutor/Assessor in Hairdressing and Barbering to join our apprenticeship team in the West Midlands.  We are a privately owned, award-winning, national Apprenticeship provider.  We pride ourselves on our staff being true industry professionals based on their strong occupational competence within their specialism and backed up by exceptional tutoring abilities.  Our training is of a very high standard with all training being on the job.  Our clients, many of whom are major groups with the hairdressing sector, love this hands-on approach as they feel they are getting real value from the training delivered.

The Role:


  • Working from home across Birmingham, Coventry, Wolverhampton, you will be looking after a cohort of around 40 apprentices, delivering and assessing Level 2 and Level 3 apprenticeships on a 1:1 basis or to very small groups.
  • You will be fully competent to teach and assess the core qualifications of the Level 2 and 3 apprenticeships - hairdressing/barbering theory and some practical, functional skills in English and Maths to Level 2
  • You will have a full knowledge of Safeguarding, Prevent and British Values and be able to embed these within your learner’s programme.
  • Competent IT and communication skills.
  • Experience of working in a target driven environment
  • Strong diary management skills to ensure you are using your time effectively and giving your learners the best possible experience
  • Local marketing to build learner base
  • A DBS check is required prior to commencement of the role.
  • Salary negotiable depending on skills and experience – range £21000 - £24000

Essential requirements:

  • L3 qualification in Hairdressing and Barbering
  • Strong industry competency and up to date skills within Hairdressing and Barbering
  • Assessor qualification (TAQA, A1, D32/D33)
  • Teaching qualification (PTLLS/AET minimum)
  • Full UK driving licence and use of own car
  • Competent IT and communication skills
  • Experience of working in a target driven environment
